Evanescent-field-based Photonic Microcells and their Applications

摘要：

　　We report our recent studies on evanescent-field-based photonic microcells (PMCs) made by post-processing commercial micro-structured optical fibers, and by encapsulating tapered micro/nano-fibers within glass tubes.These PMCs may be used as platforms for efficient light-matter interaction and to build novel photonic devices.As an example, we present a novel refractive index sensor based on a PMC with a highly birefringent suspended-core.
