Comparison of the Motifs of Potteries and Ceramics of the Early Islamic Centuries (the 8th to the 10th Centuries AD)Between Iran and China (Changsha)

  This article presents a morphological model for categorizing comprehensively the ornaments and motifs appeared on the potteries or glazed clayware objects made in Iran during Abbasid Dynasty (the 8th to the 9th centuries AD).These motifs are compared with the ones appeared on the coeval Chinese ceramic products made in Changsha, during Tang Dynasty.The model is also developed to cover the variety of the motifs and ornaments of the Chinese ceramics too.Finally, on the basis of the model, the similarities and differences between the Iranian and Chinese ornaments and motifs are extracted and the most significant characteristic of Iranian and Chinese styles is clarified.
