Numerical Simulation of Dam-Break Flow Using the Level Set/Immersed Boundary Method
A level set/immersed boundary method for numerical simulation of dam-break flow over an stationary object is presented. This approach uses a level set approach and immersed boundary formulation for fluid-fluid and solid-fluid interface treatments, respectively. The incompressible Navier-Stokes solutions are calculated effectively using the projection method. For accurately predictiong the fluid-fluid interface, the weighted essentially non oscillatory (WENO) scheme is applied to approximate spatial derivative terms which are shown in the advection equation and re-initialization equation of level set approach.Numerical results show that the interface preserving method can preserve mass very well for dam-break problems.
