Effects of Liquid Density on Venturi Injectors
Venturi injectors have extensively been used to pump liquids in fertigation system because of some advantages, such as reliable operation, no moving parts, and feasibility to operate under several ranges of pressure and flow rate. Many researches had been carried out on the Venturi injectors during the last few decades, and discussed the effect of changing the injectors” geometric parameters on its performance.Other researchers investigated the performance with Two-phase (liquid-gas) and (liquid-solid) flow.In spite of the several researches, which investigated the case of liquid-liquid flow (almost water-water), there were few reports examined the case in which the secondary flow liquid differs from the power flow liquid in density, which is the main objective of this paper. The subject is treated experimentally on a special test rig, with the primary jet water and the secondary salt waters with different density which simulated different liquid fertilizers.A one-dimensional analysis is also carried out, taking into account the difference of density of the two liquids (each primary and secondary fluids).Discussion of both the experimental and analytical results and comparison between them are made with the main conclusions.
