An Action Research on a Synchronous Collaboration Model in Face-to-face Settings

In order to explore instructional strategies to implement computer-supported collaborative learning(CSCL)in face-to-face settings,a synchronous collaboration model based on Harasim”s(2012)online collaboration framework was developed. An action research was conducted to test out the teaching effects of the proposed model and shed light on rewarding modifications to the model.Consequently, the research generated a synchronous collaboration model(in faceto-face settings)which is featured with three key phases: Idea Generating(synchronous text brainstorming),Idea Organizing(synchronous mind mapping),and Intellectual Convergence(synchronous text composing). The present paper also conducts a discussion on the features of the designed model: great emphasis on synchronous collaboration in faceto-face settings, and flexible application of web 2.0 technologies to optimize the synchronous collaboration process.
