Phenotypic drug susceptibility testing of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Isolates from Guizhou Province of China Against 12 Antituberculosis Drugs
A total of 451 Mycobacterium tuberculosis isolates which were collected from patients with tuberculosis(TB) in the Zunyi region between Jan, 2013 and Aug, 2015, be used to determine antibiotic susceptibility patterns against 12 anti-TB drugs: 4 first-line and 8 second-line (gatifloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, para-aminosalicylic acid, amikacin, capreomycin, kanamycin, and prothionamide) drugs. Results showed that 1.9% of new and 20.7% of previously treated cases were multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) ; and 0.9% of new and 5.2% of previously treated cases were extensively drug-resistant TB (XDR-TB).In addition, 18.2% of MDR-TB cases (10 out of 55) were XDR-TB, which is higher than the average numbers in China (about 8%) and in the world (9.0%).
