Placenta Transfer Characteristics of Environmental Endocrine Disruptors and Role of Trace Elements

Previous studies have shown that many EDs can penetrate the placenta, which would threaten the health of pregnant mother and their offsprings. In the present review, we reviewed the placenta transfer characteristics of bisphenol A ,phthalates, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), oranochlorine pesticides (OCPs) and heavy metals (cadmium, mercury) and their potential embryo toxicity.Based on this, We explored whether the trace elements(Zn,Se, Cu, Mn) could affect the transfer characteristics of EDs through the placenta, and the potential mechanisms.
