Changes of Aorta in Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats
OBJECTIVE: To find out the effects of diabetes mellitus on macrovascualr lesion.METHODS: Forty 8-week old male Sprague-Dawley rats,weighing 180-200 g, were randomly divided into two groups: control group (NC group), diabetes mellitus group (DM group).The rats from NC that were fed with regular chow for 2 weeks received vehicle.The rats in diabetes mellitus group were fed with high-diet foods for 2 weeks, and then streptozotocin (STZ) in induced diabetic rats was injected intraperitoneally in a dose of 35 mg/kg.During the following 14 weeks, all rats were given with food and water ad libitum.After 16 weeks, aortic arch was isolated from SD diabetic rats and assessed by pathological section using HE staining.
