BACKGROUND: Liver cancer is the most common cancer in the world.Hepatitis B or C is the major cause of liver cancer.The total population of hepatitis C is about 170 million in China.About 20 to 30 years later, 20-30％ of hepatitis C carriers will develop to cirrhosis and liver cancer.High virus load is the key to predict liver cancer.Reducing the virus load is an important issue in the management of the hepatitis C carriers.
