Sirtinol Suppresses Human Cytomegalovirus (hCMV) Infection and hCMV-induced Cellular Senescence and Production of Reactive Oxygen Species in Human Fibroblasts

BACKGROUND: Human cytomegalovirus (hCMV) causes birth defects in newborns and severe infections in immunocompromised patients.hCMV also contributes to immunosenescence.AntihCMV treatments are limited with significant drawbacks.We aimed to investigate effects of sirtinol, a sirtuin inhibitor, on CMV-induced cellular senescence.
