Sirtinol Suppresses Human Cytomegalovirus (hCMV) Infection and hCMV-induced Cellular Senescence and Production of Reactive Oxygen Species in Human Fibroblasts
BACKGROUND: Human cytomegalovirus (hCMV) causes birth defects in newborns and severe infections in immunocompromised patients.hCMV also contributes to immunosenescence.AntihCMV treatments are limited with significant drawbacks. We aimed to investigate effects of sirtinol, a sirtuin inhibitor, on CMV-induced cellular senescence.
