Neighborhood Context and Recurrent Falls among Older Adults Aging in Place

OBJECTIVE: Neighborhood context contributes both risk and protective factors for falls in community settings.Despite the high risk of institutionalization following a fall, the relationship between fall events and physical/social neighborhood environment not well understood.Social and environmental context has been linked to a variety of health outcomes among older adults, as represented in the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (WHO, 2001).
