Correlation between Serum Levels of Oxidized Low Density Lipoprotein and Carotid Artery Intima-media Thickness in the Elderly
BACKGROUND: The increase of carotid artery intima media thickness (CA-IMT) is one of the early features of atherosclerosis (AS).Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is an important risk factor of AS.This study aimed to determine whether serum level of oxidized LDL (ox-LDL) was associated with CA-IMT and further to study the role of serum ox-LDL in carotid artery stenosis.
