Utility of Ultrasonography in Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute Pulmonary Embolism in the Elderly

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate the utility of ultrasonography in diagnosis and treatment of acute pulmonary embolism (APE) in the elderly.METHODS: Twenty-seven elderly APE patients (71-96 years of age, mean age 79.7±9.3 years old) were included in this study.They underwent echocardiography, lower extremity deep vein ultrasonography, distal oxygen saturation test, blood pressure and plasma D-dimer level measurement before the onset and after treatment of APE.
