Associations between AMPK Concentration and Metabolic Syndrome in the Elderly of Tianjin

BACKGROUND: Imbalance of energy metabolism is a major cause for metabolic syndrome.AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is a major component of a protein kinase cascade that plays a pivotal role in the regulation of intracellular energy.By testing of the AMPK concentration in peripheral blood of the elderly, it is hoped to find out the associations between the AMPK concentration and metabolic syndrome (MS).
