BACKGROUND: Hypertension is a well-recognized risk factor for coronary artery disease,atherosclerosis, and cerebrovascular disease.Some comorbidities in hypertension, such as overweight and obesity, are increasingly recognized in the elderly, predisposing them to cardiovascular disease.Previous studies have related overweight and obesity with their high risks of cardiovascular events, but the mechanisms are fully understood.
