The Role of HIF-1α in Hippocampal Neurons Injury Induced by1.5%-21% Intermittent Hypoxia
BACKGROUND: Obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS), a common sleep and breathing disorder, is often intertwined with cognitive dysfunction.Cognitive dysfunction is associated with hippocampal neuron injury induced by intermittent hypoxia (IH).However, the precise mechanisms of IH-induced hippocampal neurons injury are not fully understood.HIF-1 is obligate heterodimer consisting of an O2-1abile α subunit and a stable β subunit, which is the primary transcriptional response to hypoxic stress and plays an important role in the hypoxia related diseases. This study aimed to investigate the role of HIF-1α in hippocampal neuron injury induced by 1.5%-21% intermittent hypoxia through the inhibitor of HIF-1 (YC-1) pretreatment.
