A Case Report: Older Patient with Upper Gastrointestinal Bleeding Treated with Acid Suppression Developed Clostridium Difficile Colitis with Frequent Recurrence
The Case: Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) bleeding treated with acid suppression increase the risk of Clostridium Difficile Colitis (CDC).An 85 year-old Chinese male, with hypertension and Type2 DM, had colon cancer resection and colostomy that caused prolonged hospitalization for six months.During peri-and postoperative period, he had several episodes of infections that required antibiotics and stress-induced UGI bleeding treatments.
