Effect of Different Intermittent Hypoxia on Hippocampal Neuron Autophagy
PURPOSE: Cognitive dysfunction is one of the common complications in elderly patients with obstructive sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS).Intermittent hypoxia (IH), a major pathological component of OSAHS, can induce hippocampal neuronal injury. It is likely that IH-induced hippocampal neuronal injury may be a major mechanism to the cognitive dysfunction.Autophagy is an important pathophysiological mechanism for maintaining intracellular homeostasis. In our study, we aimed to investigate the intermittent hypoxia-induced autophagy in hippocampal neurons.
