Effect of Early Intravenous Administration of Panax Notoginseng on Elderly with Acute Lacunar Infarction
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the effect of early intravenous administration of Panax notoginseng on elderly with acute lacunar infarction.METHODS: A total of 64 elderly-patients were recruited, who were diagnosed in twenty-four hours as acute lacunar infarction for the first time.Thirty-one of the patients treated with Panax notoginseng were divided into treatment group and thirty-three of the patients without Panax notoginseng therapy were divided into control group.Both groups received similar treatments based on acute stroke management guideline such as antiplatelet, lipid-lowering agent, and physical rehabilitation.The treatment group received Panax notoginseng 750mg intravenously once daily for four weeks, while the control group received normal saline.We assessed NIHSS, ADL, MMSE,MoCA scores and physical rehabilitation compliance on both groups before and after the treatment of Panax notoginseng.
