Incidence and Cause of Falls in a Community Dwelling Older Population in Beijing

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the incidence of falls, and to explore the causes of falls in community-dwelling elderly people in Beijing.METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted in a community in Beijing, and 1,512 people aged 60 years or over were recruited using stratified cluster sampling method.Information about any falls was collected with a standardized structured questionnaire by face-to-face interview.Multilevel model analysis was used to explore the reasons for falls in the elderly.
