Association between Androgen Receptor CAG Repeat Polymorphism and the Metabolic Syndrome in a Cohort of Old Chinese Men

摘要：

BACKGROUND: Elderly men experience both a dramatic decline of androgen levels and an increased incidence of metabolic syndrome (MS).Since most androgen effects are mediated through androgen receptor (AR), and CAG repeat polymorphism in exon 1 of AR gene modulates AR activity, whether CAG repeat plays a significant role in this clustering of metabolic disorders needs to be examined.
