Intravenous Zoledronic Acid Versus Oral Alendronate in the Treatment of Osteoporosis in Older Adults
OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to evaluate and compare intravenous zoledronic acid and oral alendronate for the treatment of osteoporosis in the elderly.METHOD: The study was designed to compare a once yearly intravenous dose of zoledronic acid 5 mg with a once weekly oral dose of alendronate 70 mg with respect to markers of serum β-C-terminal telopeptide of type Ⅰ collagen (β-CTX), procollagen type Ⅰ C-terminal propeptide (PICP),N-terminal midfragment of osteocalcin (NMID) and bone mineral density in 90 older patients with osteoporosis in China.
