Effect of Large Doses of L-Glutamine on Newly Diagnosed Type 2 Diabetes Patients above 65

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to comprehensively evaluate the effect of large doses of L-Glutamine (L-Gln) on newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients above 65.METHODS: Forty-four patients with newly diagnosed type 2 diabetes were treated in geriatric section of Yunnan First People”s Hospital.They were divided into treatment group (n=22) and control group (n=22).The patients in control group were only treated by Metformin Hydrochloride (0.25g each time, three times a day), and the patients in treatment group were given the treatment of L-Gln (4.02g/d) and Metformin Hydrochloride (0.25g each time, three times a day).
