The Relationship between Leukoaraiosis and Cognitive Function

OBJECTIVE: We aimed to investigate the relationship between the performance of periventricular leukoaraiosis (LA) in MRI and cognitive function in elderly patients with hypertension in Shanghai city.METHODS: Ninety elderly veterans with hypertension in Shanghai city were evaluated one by one to assess the prevalence of cognitive function impairment using both Mini-mental state examination (MMSE) and Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA).They were then divided into 3 groups.
