The Illusion of Understanding: in the Classrooms and Beyond

This presentation explores the ongoing challenge of defining what learning and understanding mean from the perspective of the learning sciences.These observations provide a framework for understanding the learning process (and resulting studies), and when applied to different learning environments reveal what I call the illusion of understanding.I replace that view with a more authentic understanding of the learning process and the means to achieve it especially as it unfolds in all children from the very young to those seeking advanced studies.
