A Sugar-Functionalized Amphiphilic Pillar”5”arene: Synthesis, Self-Assembly in Water, and Application in Bacterial Cell Agglutination
We designed a novel sugar-functionalized amphiphilic pillar”5”arene P1 with galactoses as the hydrophilic part and alkyl chains as the hydrophobic part.Due to the existence of intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the galactoses and the Van der Waals interactions between the alkyl chains, P1 self-assembled into vesicles in water and gradually transformed into nanotubes after standing for 1 week.
