Kappa Analysis on the Application of Selecting Traditional Chinese Medicine Five-Element Music under Syndrome Differentiation
The quality of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) five-element music was evaluated and selected under syndrome differentiation by using the Kappa test. Two different Kappa values between the physician and the cancer patient were compared in order to analyze the interconsistency of TCM five-element music selection.A total of 73 hospitalized cancer patients were allocated to receive TCM five-element music. The results of a single tune selection showed that a Kappa value greater than 0.4 for four modals, with moderate degree of consistency and statistical consistent for each other. However, there was neither consistent measurement nor statistical consistency for the Zhi tune.Multi-modal music selection showed that a Kappa value greater than 0.4 was related to heart-kidney deficiency, heart-spleen deficiency, liver-kidney deficiency, lung-kidney deficiency, and lung-spleen deficiency in modal choice. There was a moderate degree of statistical consistency. It was concluded that a consistency of TCM five-clement music selection was observed between physician and patient by using the Kappa analysis. The study laid a good foundation for TCM five-element music for cancer patients.
