Internal Resistance Effects to Thermal Field of A Cylindrical Lithium-ion Battery
Thermal analysis and thermal management system are significant parts of the battery management system (BMS) of electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs).This paper proposed a method for studying the change of thermal behavior cased by the degradation of internal resistance. The two-dimensional and three-dimensional thermal models of a cylindrical lithium-ion cell were built to simulate the temperature field during discharge cycles. The effects of different discharge conditions were examined by means of the finite element analysis (FEA) method. The change of internal resistance caused by cell degradation was considered in the thermal analysis of the cell. The predicted temperature distribution result shows certain reference function for thermal management applications.
