数字化信息时代的挑战--以胡志明市科学图书馆为例

Digital information environment has brought many conveniences for human life，incommunication，sharing or exchanging information as well as created challenging for libraries．To adapt to this trend and to strengthen its’position in this era，libraries have to improve themselves by creating newservices in a new environment，well—equipments and facilitates to supply high quality information resources，especially encouraging the digital information resources so that everybody can access and share infor mationwithout the geographical boundaries．This paper will present the effects of the digital information environmentto activities of public library，and how to deal with this challenging based on the situation of the GeneralSciences Library of Hochiminh City(GSL)．It will also include the process of changing from traditional librarywith traditional services to modern services to attract to many kinds of users and meet their needs，whichfocus on the way of building，organizing，serving，sharing and managing the digital information resources．Finally，the paper will look back to the difficulties that GSL has experienced during the conducted projects asit can be a1esson-learn．
