Preparation and Characterization of Lignin-based Nanofibers by Electrospinning
Lignin is an abundant, underutilized natural resource that has a potential to be used as a biomaterial.Lignin and poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA)were dissolved in distilled water, and nonwoven nanofiber membranes were prepared from the solution by electrospinning.Effect of lignin/PVA ratio and molecular weight of PVA were studied on aspects of morphology, chemical properties.SEMresults showed that the diameter of the composite fiber increased with the rise of lignin content.Reducing the molecular weight of PVA can”t successfully form fibers when lignin content was higher.FTIR analysis exhibited that there is no new peak generated which indicated only physical interaction between lignin and PVA.
