Preparation of potato starch carbon spheres by carbonization in oil phase
Potato carbon spheres(PCSs)that exhibit regular morphologies were prepared by carbonization in methyl silicone oil at 220 ℃ for 15 h and subsequent carbonization at 600 ℃ for 1 h under nitrogen, using potato starch as carbon precursor.X-ray diffraction(XRD)and Raman spectrum confirmed that the as-obtained PCSs were typical of disordered carbon structure with lower graphitization.Field emission scanning electron microscopy(FESEM)revealed highly monodispersed and spheroidal morphologies of PCSs.In addition,it was found that the process of carbonization in oil phase played a crucial role in the preparation of this kind of carbon spheres.
