The emergence and global spread of carbapenem-resistant Enterobacteriaceae is ofgreat concern.A novel metallo-β-lactamase,New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase-1(NDM-1),has attracted wide attention in recent years because it confers resistance to allclasses of β-lactam antibiotics except for the monobactam aztreonam (1).NDM-1 ismainly identified in Escherichia coli,Acinetobacter spp.and Klebsiella pneumonia.
