Chemical Epigenetics Alters the Secondary Metabolite Composition of Nematicidal Compounds Excreted by a Soil-Derived Fungus, Aspergillus niger y-61
Chemical epigenetic manipulation of Aspergillus niger y-61 led to profound changes in the secondary metabolite profile of its nematicidal compounds. While nematicidal compounds from control cultures exhibited a relatively simple assemblage of secondary metabolites, the nematicidal compounds collected from cultures treated with 10μmol/L suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid (a histone deacetylase inhibitor) was highly enriched in compounds compared with those of control.
