The Study of Heritage Value of Danwei Compounds in China Exemplified by China Railway Erju in Chengdu
Since 1949, many large-scale industrial enterprises were founded in Chinese cities in the form of ”Danwei Compound”.Influenced by Danwei system under the background of planned economy, danwei compound was both a special way of organizing spaces and a special landscape of many cities in China during that period.After the reform and opening up, as the transformation of economic system going further, these state-owned enterprises started to step into the market, both domestic and abroad.In order to improve their efficiency, the enterprises started to reform, too.During the process, there were lots of congregating and segregating activities of assets.For instance the superior assets got congregated while the welfare departments were stripped and sold at the market.This paper will take China Railway Erju as an example to interpret its similarities and dissimilarities compared with other danwei compounds.After that, we focused on its stripped assets and discussed the problem they faced and are facing now.Finally, we talked about its heritage value based on these factors.
