Transformations in the Picture of Man The Example of German Tort Law

Ⅰ.Introduction Laws are products of their specific historic periods. They reflect-frequently with some delay-the prevailing ideas and concepts of their eras of promulgation. The paper attempts to demonstrate how the picture of man and his responsibilities as it is reflected by the German Civil Code (BGB) changed since its inception in the year 1900.There will be two different aspects which we will focus on: On the one hand and primarily the qualities of the tortfeasor, and on the other hand shortly on the role of the victim, primarily the case of the injured housewife.
