Synthesis and Performance of a New Polymer for Intermediate Permeability Oil Layers
Intermediate permeability oil layers are classified as layers with an effective permeability of 0.2-0.5μm2.For these oil layers, a new polymer was synthesized from acrylamide, a sulfonic acid monomer and a self-made hydrophobic monomer. The molecular structure of the polymer was devised so that its properties matched the oil layers well. The viscosity increment of the new polymer was better than that of the HPAM (hydrolyzed polyacrylamide) with a relative molecular weight of 15M.When the polymer concentration was 1000mg/L, the viscosity of the new polymer increased under the total dissolved solids and shearing rate of the layers. Also, the results from physical simulation experiments of natural cores revealed that the enhanced recovery factor of the new polymer was higher than that of the HPAM with a molecular weight of 15M.
