Flow Property of Foam in Porous Media
The ability of foam to improve a core”s sweep efficiency and reduce its size, as well as the role of core permeability, were investigated through foam flooding experiments in porous media. The influence of α-olefin sulfonate, the hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) concentration, the gas-liquid ratio, and the injection method on foam flooding properties was explored. The experimental results showed that the foam flooding resistance coefficient and residual resistance coefficient increased as the concentration of α-olefin sulfonate and HPAM increased. The foam flooding resistance coefficient and residual resistance coefficient in the non-oil rock heart was more than three times that in the oil-bearing rock. When the α-olefin sulfonate and HPAM concentration exceeded a certain value, the foam flooding resistance coefficient and residual resistance coefficient became stable.Appropriately increasing the gas-liquid ratio could improve the ability to control foam flooding, but too high of a gas-liquid ratio would cause gas channeling. The same foam system did not improve the ability to control flooding in cores of all different permeabilities.
