Technologies for IMO regulations(Tier Ⅱ and Ⅲ) on marine diesel engine
Due to implementation of the mandatory regulations on environment pollution from ships, Tier Ⅰ had been entered into force on 1 January 2000 by IMO and then Tier Ⅱ was forced on 1 January 2011.Tier Ⅲ are going to be forced on 1 January 2016.Nitrogen oxides(NOx) had to be reduced by 20% in Tier Ⅱ and will be reduced by 80% in Tier Ⅲ than Tier Ⅰ.Diesel engine makers for ship accomplished through researches and developments of engine parts related to a technology of reduction on NOx in order to satisfy Tier Ⅱ, and are making sure of development and technology completion for an after-treatment equipment called Selective Catalytic Reduction(SCR) in order to satisfy Tier Ⅲ.
