Controllable synthesis of 1D micro/nanostructured electrode materials for enhanced performances in lithium-ion battery

Electrode materials with one-dimensional(1D)micro/nanostructures have been considered as promising ones for application in high-performance lithium-ion batteries.Herein, stepwise co-precipitation and ethanol-mediated co-precipitation methods are demonstrated to selectively synthesize an extensive series of 1D micro/nanostructured cobalt-based and manganese-based electrode materials including both cathode and anode electrode materials, establishing the generality and efficiency of the strategy. The as-prepared 1D micro/nanostructured electrode materials exhibit excellent reversible capacity and rate capability.Conclusively, the stepwise coprecipitation and the ethanol-mediated co-precipitation strategies offer systematic approaches to design 1D micro/nanostructured metal oxide electrode materials, which are valuable not only for lithium ion batteries but also for other energy conversion and storage devices.
