Media Education and Media Literacy Strategies in China and Finland
In 2010, the Chinese government released the new outline for education development in China for the next ten years.The outline points out educational informationization and citizens” information literacy as being two measures of modern education in the new era.With information technology development, Finland also faces these challenges.However, from the 1990s the Finnish government has made policies to improve Finnish ICT education and people”s information and media literacy, through for example ”Information society program for education, training and research 2004-2006”.After years of development, people”s information literacy and learning skills, and media education research in Finland have reached advanced world levels.The paper will investigate media education and information literacy strategies in China and Finland, and compares each country”s merits and recommendations in creating ICT education policy for the future.
