Contraction activates several signal transduction pathways to regulate GLUT4 translocation in C2C12-GLUT4HA myotubes
Insulin-regulated signal transduction and GLUT4 traffic has been largely mapped, with the majority of knowledge developed by studying muscle cells in culture. In contrast, less is known about the signalling pathways that arise in response to muscle contraction, due in part to the lack of suitable in vitro models. We aimed to create an in vitro model of muscle cell contraction to facilitate our understanding of contraction-regulated increases of GLUT4HA at the myotubes cell surface GLUT4 translocation.
