Effects of Viscosifier Content and Viscosifier Temperature on Pore Structure of Magnesium Foam
By controlling the content of viscosifier and viscosifier temperature, the Mg alloy foams of uniform pore structure with porosity in the range of 62%-77% and minimum pore size =2.32 mm have been made successfully via melt foaming process using Ca as viscosifier and CaCO3 as blowing agent.With the increase of the content of Ca or viscosifer temperature, the pore size of foamed magnesium decreases.When the content of Ca is more than 3 % or the viscosifer temperature is more than 720 ℃, the pore size of foamed magnesium increases a little;variation law of average porosity of foamed magnesium is reverse to pore size.
