Dealing with the Complexity to Stabilize a Process Chain of High-Pressure Aluminum Die Casting of Automotive Structural Components
Aim of the presented research topic is at first to initialize awareness about the complexity of a complete process chain of aluminum die casting of complex automotive structures. These process chains consist of several processes complex on themselves such as stamping, grinding, heat treatment in combination with flattening, mechanical processing, and a surface treatment.Currently first industrial application of such process chains can be seen.Right now, first experiences to avoid more complexity than needed are done and they are shown within this paper. One example to avoid complexity is to ensure transparency about specific failures and to build up a quality circle with respect to all representatives within the process chain.Since an industrial application of such a process chain regarding complex parts in automotive industry such as longitudinals is a new step in production technology a lot of efficiency improvement is seen already. This paper deals with different approaches to improve the stability of such a complex process chain.
