Effect of Deformation on Meltability of CNTs/Mg Composite Powder
In the present work, CNTs/Mg composite powders with different deformation degree were prepared, which were used for melting experiment.The deformation mechanism of CNTs/Mg composite powder and the effect of deformation on meltability of CNTs/Mg composite powder were investigated.The results showed that the CNTs on the surface of Mg powder can play the role of protective layer due to the excellent thermal stability of CNTs, which kept Mg powder inside the protective layer throughout the whole casting process.The protective layer can hardly be broken by small deformation conducted to CNTs/Mg composite powder, but it could be broken effectively when large deformation was carried out, which would lead to the direct contact between Mg powder and molten metal.And the scattered CNTs were then blended into molten Mg everywhere during the melting process to enhance the metal structure.
