High Temperature Oxidation Behavior of Co-10Cr-xAl (x=0, 5, 10)Alloys at 973K
The oxidation of Co-10Cr-xAl (x=0, 5, 10, nominal composition, at.%) alloys in 0.1Mpa pure O2 at 973K were investigated.The oxidation resistance of Co-10Cr-xAl improved greatly when the content of Al increased.Co-10Cr-0Al presents the worst oxidation resistance with the mass gain of about 1.34 mg/cm2 after 24h oxidation, while Co-10Cr-10Al presents the best oxidation resistance with the much lower mass gain of about 0.081 mg/cm2.Nodular oxides were formed on most areas on the surface of Co-10Cr-0Al and Co-10Cr-5Al, corresponding to their insufficiently protective behavior, while only very few nodular oxides were formed on Co-10Cr-10Al, in accord with its excellent protective behavior.
