Expression of CREBZF in testis and the biological significance in testosterone production
CREBZF is a member of the mammalian CREB (cAMP-response-element-binding protein)/ATF (activating transcription factor) family of the basic region-leucine zipper (bZIP) transcription factors.CREBZF gene produces two isoforms, SMILE-L (long isoform of CREBZF, also known as SMILE) and SMILE-S (short isoform of CREBZF, known as Zhangfei or ZF).Previously studies have found that Zhangfei played a suppressive role in the unfolded protein response (UPR) by interaction with Luman,ATF4, Xbpl, HERP and GRP78.
