Manipulation of Lignin Metabolism by Plant Densities and Its Relationship with Lodging Resistance in Wheat
Currently, increasing plant density is one of the most efficient measures in improving grain yield in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.).However, over-large plant population structure has the potential to increase the risk of lodging. To achieve a more reasonable population structure for lodging resistance, a better understanding of the mechanism regulated by plant density and its relation to lodging resistance is needed.Due to previous studies have shown a positive effect of lignin on the breaking strength of culm, the characterization of lignin biosynthesis, and lignification degree of cell walls are important goals.
