Effects of Straw Return and Nitrogen Fertilizer on the Availability of Soil Nutrients and Enzyme Activities in North China Plain
Decline of soil quality is the main barrier to agricultural production in Huang-Huai-Hai region of China. To provide a basis for the establishment of a soil amelioration technical system for this area, we conducted a four-year (2011-2015) field experiment to determine the effects of straw return method and amount of nitrogen applied on the levels of soil carbon and nitrogen and enzyme activities.Four method of straw return were tested (RT: residue removed with rotary tillage, RS: residue applied with rotary tillage, DS: residue applied with deep plowing tillage, and TS: residue applied with rotary tillage in first two year and deep plowing tillage in the third year).
