Study on Wetting Phenomena of TiC in Blast Furnace Slag-Bearing Titanium
Under the conditions of the reductive atmosphere and high temperatures, titanium oxides of blast furnace (BF) slag can be reduced partially to high melting point phase (such as TiC, 3140℃) that causing a series of problems, for example, the high viscosity of the slag, the high loss of iron and slag foaming. The above problems are closely related to the characteristic of the interface between the BF slag bearing titanium and TiC.The wetting phenomena of TiC with the molten BF slag bearing titanium was studied. The major conclusions are as follows: TiC is wetted both with the blast furnace slag bearing titanium and iron quite well;it may be some gas of CO generated in the process.
