Droplet sizing for agrochemical spray applications: considerations and measurement techniques.
Droplet size and size distribution are important factors in aerial agrochemical spraying.The droplet size of an agrochemical spray is selected depending on the target for application;whether that is leaves,soil or insects.Droplet size must also be controlled in order to reduce off-target spraying,whether due to larger droplets causing contamination via soil run off or smaller droplet increasing the risk of spray drift.Hence the choice of droplet size for a particular application will depend on the target to be sprayed as well as the speed of application and the environmental conditions such as humidity,wind speed and temperature.
